Founded in 2014, Maake is a design-led arts organization that bridges physical and virtual spaces to foster community and amplify emerges voices in contemporary visual art. Comprising a print publication, website, social media, and exhibition project space, Maake connects artists, curators, and writers across geographic boundaries. By leveraging both analog and digital realms, the project serves as a hybrid archive of contemporary art practice over the past decade in both a printed publication and online.

To date, Maake has published over 250 artist interviews across print and digital formats, highlighting emerging artists and innovative, underrepresented voices. Each issue is curated by a guest curator, providing a diverse range of curatorial perspectives. Maake also collaborates with artist-run spaces across the U.S. to curate exhibitions and host programming that fosters community engagement by connecting people in meaningful ways. Maake also features myriad artist-run projects, providing a free and accessible directory and educational resource for artists, and sharing conversations around emerging arts projects.
